The core of the 400 year old Steiner farm house was not used for several years and was in danger of dereliction. The building was then bought by the Kaprun municipal council and listed as a site of historical interest. Its location on the Kirchbichl is very special, as other historic structures surround the church.
The earlier "Heimatmuseum Kaprun", now calles the "Kaprun Museum", occupies 140m² of the first and second floor and has found an attractive domicile there.
